City
Yaroslavl
In the second quarter of 2023, specialists from the international engineering company Svet Expert completed the first stage of the lighting master plan of the city of Yaroslavl. During this stage, more than 50 objects included in the lighting master plan were implemented. In addition to modern urban structures, the company implemented lighting of cultural heritage objects such as the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Church of the Epiphany of the Lord, the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the Kazan Monastery, and others.
The metaphorical image of the lighting master plan for Yaroslavl was to create a single style for the city, to illuminate the routes of the main traffic of guests and residents, reflecting the idea of a “neural network”. Thus, the central objects are brightly glowing dominants of the urban environment, on which the largest number of light elements are installed. They attract attention and stand out against the background of delicately lit low-rise streets. Yaroslavl is the capital of the Golden Ring, containing a large number of cultural heritage sites and monuments of the Russian Orthodox Church. The main task of the work of Svet Expert was to carefully emphasize the historical value of the buildings of the city, their history and significance for residents. It is worth noting that 70% of the buildings included in the lighting master plan are cultural heritage sites of our country. In this regard, it was necessary to develop specialized projects and undergo historical and cultural expertise.
The master plan includes not only Russian churches, but also religious buildings of different peoples: the Armenian Apostolic Church “Surb Gevorg”, the Yaroslavl Synagogue “Beit Aaron”. These places of worship are distinguished by their architecture, style, color of facades. Socio-cultural objects, such as the House of Artists, the Museum “Music and Time”, the Smolin House are also being implemented this year. Each of them uses an individual design solution using a certain color of LED luminescence, mounting method and power supply. In total, more than 5.5 thousand facade lamps were needed to implement the project, the installation of which was carried out by nine installation teams.
The second part of the lighting master plan of the city includes 43 objects within the city of Yaroslavl and the Yaroslavl region. The key object of the second stage of the lighting master plan was the Yaroslavl Planetarium. This project differs from the general concept of the urban environment, since only it uses the principle of dynamic lighting with different color rendering. The building of the “Kazan Convent” is decorated with a completely different architectural lighting. Here, the principle of mixed illumination is applied with the installation of fixtures on the facades of the structure and the use of floodlights that form the background of the walls of the monastery. This allows us to achieve an image of a parade one of the main objects of Orthodoxy on the territory of Yaroslavl.
