The former Soviet Sajany Cinema in the Ivanovskoye district will get a new look, modern facade lighting, and transform into a multi-functional, within walking distance public center. The lighting concept was developed by Svet Expert.
The building is located on Sajanskaya Street, building 9. It was built in 1981 by architects Viktor Lebedev, Alexander Tsivyan, and Boris Shabunin. At the end of 2014, the cinema was bought by the ADG Group development company and included in the reconstruction program.
The architects’ task was to find a balance between the historical past of cinemas and the modern architecture of district centers. Sajany will retain its familiar look, historical name, and vintage sign - the original inscription will be scanned in 3D. The walls will be faced with high-tech, durable, and environmentally friendly materials - ceramic panels, glass, and metal. Panoramic glazing of the facades will increase the level of natural lighting in the premises and create an openness effect for the city. The adjacent territory will be landscaped, the road surface will be updated, and lawns will be planted.
"A strict and laconic lighting installed along the contour line of the cornice, 180 meters long, and lighting equipment on the facades will not light up the windows of neighboring buildings and will not interfere with the movement of vehicles in the dark, "said the founder of Svet Expert. Warm floodlighting, together with a barrier-free environment, will create an atmosphere of coziness and safety for young mothers with strollers, children, and elderly people.
The updated Sajany District Center will have three ground floors and an underground technical floor. The reconstruction will revive movie screenings in the building in a modern format: four halls with comfortable seats, large screens, and a modern sound system. The building will house a Lenta grocery supermarket, essential goods stores, cafes, and a restaurant. Leisure opportunities will be added by creative workshops for children and adults, fairs, and educational programs. The building will also replace communications, update layouts and fire-extinguishing systems, and create a maximum barrier-free space.
In 2021, most of the updated Soviet cinemas will open their doors to visitors, including Biryusinka on Bulatnikovskaya Street, 9A, the lighting concept for which was also developed by the Svet Expert company. The full reconstruction program will be implemented in 2022.
