ALCON Tower

Concept

In August 2023, Svet Expert completed the architectural lighting of the "ALCON Tower." A similar project can be seen in the "Empire State Building" in New York, where the lower part of the building is illuminated with monochromatic white light, and the upper part features various dynamic lighting scenarios.

Buildings with similar architecture are illuminated as follows: the lower floors are lit with static white light, while the upper spire of the skyscraper is highlighted with bright colors using different programmable lighting scenes. The project involves the installation of over 700 lighting units ranging from 10 watts to 300 watts. All lighting equipment is energy-efficient, resulting in a total power consumption for architectural lighting of less than 20 kW, which positively impacts the city's energy load.

Key Implementation Stage

"During the implementation of the architectural lighting project, we faced an interesting challenge to achieve the intended concept, which required us to 'unify' visually and technically over 10 types of lighting fixtures," said Ekaterina Krymskaya, the CEO of Svet Expert. "The lower block of the multifunctional complex is illuminated by monochromatic fixtures with the ability to control the light output and color. We configured a smooth activation of the facade lighting from the lower floors to the upper part of the tall structure. Each window opening features a special fixture with toroidal optics, which highlights the window but prevents light from directly hitting the window itself, ensuring comfort for the residents."

The most crucial implementation stage for the lighting concept was the spire, added Ekaterina Krymskaya. The difficulty of installing lighting equipment on the pointed structure stemmed from its height, wind load calculations, and the installation of brackets over 1 meter, to which powerful 200-300 watt floodlights are attached.

Residential Complex "Alcon Tower"

"Alcon Tower" is a 168-meter skyscraper located in the Begovoy district of Moscow. The building's appearance is reminiscent of the famous Stalinist high-rises and the "Empire State Building" in New York. Following the tradition of Soviet Art Deco architecture, the project includes the use of expensive and high-quality finishing materials. Modern utilization of Italian Renaissance motifs, absolute symmetry, and the hierarchy of structures are all elements embedded in the "Alcon Tower" residential complex. This high-rise is the dominant feature of the premium Begovoy district, situated near the center of our capital city. The multifunctional complex "Alcon Tower" has forever transformed the perception of the Leningradsky Avenue skyline.
